The man is 94 and he just finished yet another marathon, this time in Edinburgh. There he led a team (named “Sikhs in the City”) of five Sikh runners with a combined age of 397 years between them. Said Fauja Singh:
I hope we will inspire young people to keep going and older people never to give up
A 101-year-old man has his sights on the London Marathon in a bid to become the world's oldest competitive runner.
Working plumber Buster Martin ran Sunday's Roding Valley half marathon in Essex in five hours 13 minutes, and is now focusing on London's 26-mile event.
Mr Martin's trainer is marathon enthusiast Harmander Singh, who helped Fauja Singh, 96, break the London marathon record for the over-90s.
Johnson, 81, of San Jose, Calif., competed in her 21st consecutive New York City Marathon, and just missed her goal of running in less than six hours.
She took almost seven hours last year. So she decided to train a little bit harder and she succeeded. Imagine succeeding in improving at the age of 81.
She took up running at a late age of 58. She was a gym teacher at that time.
Three years later, she finished her first New York City Marathon in 4:22. After another three years of training, she finished in 3:55.
